Holidays for People with Disabilities in Norway

Holidays for People with Disabilities in Norway with adventures in nature, well-being and fun.

Haraldvangen

Haraldvangen is a Norwegian holiday centre for people with disabilities. Our outdoor facilities, as well as buildings and activities, are ideal for people with any kind of physical or mental disability.

We are easily accessible. We are located only 30 kilometres north of Oslo Airport Gardermoen (Norway's main airport) and 80 kilometres from Oslo (Norway's capital). Haraldvangen is idyllically located by the shores of Lake Hurdalssjoen, surrounded by forest and beautiful scenery. We have the know-how and facilities, and wish to offer all our visitors the best experiences possible in Norwegian nature.

Activities & Adventures:

We offer adventures and activities year 'round that you will never forget. You will be given the opportunity to face challenges and expand your own boundaries. Activities are offered according to season and take place mainly outdoors (on the lake or in the forest). Everything is organised by professional instructors with broad experience. Participation in all activities is voluntary.

Summer:

During the summer we offer weeklong stays from Sunday to Saturday. Activities are varied with several options each day. Activities include: water-skiing, tubing or parasailing (parachute) behind our speedboat, sailing, boat trips, net fishing, canoeing, beaver or elk safaries, trips to our alpine hut, kite flying, carnival, race with our rowing boats, and much more.

Winter:

In the winter you are free to stay for as many days as you wish. Our winter guests learn how to enjoy all the possibilities of the Norwegian winter. We have good slopes for alpine skiing only 7 km away. Our wide variety of winter activities include snowmobile driving, cross-country skiing (you may borrow skies from us), tobogganing, net fishing under the ice, horse sleigh rides, and trips with the dog sledge. Robert Sorlie, winner of Iditarod 2003, the world's toughest dog race held in Alaska, is conducting our dog sledge activities.

Spring & Autumn:

Depending on weather conditions, we offer activities from both our summer and winter program. We can also arrange special trips to various sights. Possibilities include the Olympic facilities at Lillehammer (www.olympiaparken.no); a boat trip with Skibladner, the world's oldest steamboat; a trip to a viking farm; a trip to Oslo, including visits to the Munch museum (www.museumsnett.no/munchmuseet/) and the Vigeland park (www.museumsnett.no/vigelandsmuseet); and various other interesting places.

Accommodation & Food:

We have a very nice dining hall that can seat 140 guests. Besides traditional Norwegian food, our kitchen also specializes in vegetarian and special diets. We have 130 beds in total located in the main building, in houses and also in cottages. Visitors can choose to have a single room or share with other guests.

We also offer three conference rooms that can seat 30, 40, and 90 people, and smaller rooms for teamwork activities.
